What is SolaRIS?

The government launched Solar For Rakyat Incentive Scheme (SolaRIS) to encourage residential customers to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The goal is to increase renewable energy capacity to 70% by 2050 and reduce carbon emissions. Starting from April 1, 2024, residential customers who apply for Net Energy Metering (NEM) with Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) and successfully commission their solar PV systems with TNB can receive a cash rebate of up to RM4,000.

Who is eligible for SolaRIS?

Customers are eligible for the rebate if they fulfill the following criteria:

  • TNB Residential Customers (Tariff A) *Exclude businesses.
  • First time NEM Rakyat applicants from 1 April 2024
  • Malaysian citizens

SolaRIS Features

✅ One time cash rebate: RM1,000/kWac up to a maximum of RM4,000 for NEM Rakyat customers who apply and obtain approval from 1 April 2024 onwards.

*Subject to the terms and conditions of the SolaRIS programme.*

 ✅ Rebate allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis, starting from April 1 until December 31, 2024. To qualify, customers must also successfully commission their solar PV system installations by March 31, 2025, or until all SolaRIS rebate quotas are fully distributed, whichever comes first.

 ✅ The rebate will be transferred to the preferred local bank account under the registered TNB customer after receiving an email from TNB for SolaRIS application.
